Been Served with a Mechanics Lien, Now What?
We will need to bring a special proceeding, and quick. Generally, the time for the vehicle to be sold or redeemed is ten days--and unscrupulous garages bank on the fact that you'll be working to try to figure out what to do in order to not lose your car. Or even worse, they hope you'll pay the fee.
Very often garages will dupe you into having your car towed to its shop and then when you're quoted a price that is either out of the budget or even worse, just plain out predictory and you decline the garages will charge you storing, or attempt to. This often happens to those hoping insurance will pay. It's a literal, legalized, scam.
